The Celiac Society of Latvia “Dzīve bez glutēna” (“Life without gluten”) is a non-profit organisation supporting people diagnosed with celiac disease (also known as Coeliac disease in some countries). The organisation was founded in 2011 by three families facing this diagnosis.
The aims of Society are as follows:
- To provide social, psychological and informative support for celiac patients and their families.
- To provide practical help for those parents having children with celiac disease, by implementing gluten-free meals at kindergartens and schools.
- To expand knowledge of gluten free diet in Latvia.
Our Society is active by organising some events regularly such as Christmas events for children, summer camps for children, excursions and picnics for our members, also taking part in Riga Marathon annually wearing T-shirts with text “Gluten free” thus ensuring recognition of gluten – free diet in Latvia.
